Allison Elliott-Shannon has worked at the University of Kentucky since 2003, including nine years in UK Public Relations and Marketing. She has extensive experience writing about science and health care, as well as managing social media and news media relations. As Director of Communication for the College of Public Health she leads the development and implementation of communication strategies for internal and external audiences. She oversees social media, marketing and promotional materials, web content, copywriting, and publications including Catalyst, the magazine of the College. Allison holds a bachelor’s degree in History from Centre College and a master’s degree in Communication from American University in Washington, DC, with certificates from the AU Public Affairs and Advocacy Institute and AU Women in Politics Institute. In 2018 she received the Distinguished Service Scholar Award and was named an Emerging Leader by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District III.
