We welcome your application to the MHA program, and are available to answer any questions or assist you through the application process. Application decisions are made on a rolling basis, so applicants are encouraged to apply early. Applicants are also encouraged to apply early for all scholarship/financial aid consideration.

Students applying to the Master of Health Administration program must submit a primary application (for the College of Public Health) and a supplemental application (for the University of Kentucky).  Applicants can choose to submit their primary application by using either the Health Administration, Management & Policy Centralized Application Service (HAMPCAS)* or Schools of Public Health Application Service (SOPHAS)*, but must also complete the supplemental application for the University of Kentucky Graduate School. Prerequisite requirements are courses in basic accounting and basic economics.

Application Dates

Fall 2020 applications are accepted on a rolling basis through HAMPCAS or SOPHAS.
Please note, the deadline for international students is March 15, 2020.

Admission Requirements

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree or equivalent.
  • Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale as verified through official transcripts
  • Resume
  • Official scores from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or other acceptable examinations unless waived.
  • TOEFL scores for international students.
  • Three letters of recommendation including at least one from a faculty member.
  • A personal statement

Admissions Review

Each application is reviewed by a committee of MHA faculty members.  Application elements are reviewed holistically and include the GPA, GRE scores, personal statement, letters of recommendation, transcript(s) and resume. These elements guide assessment of the applicant’s previous academic and work/volunteer accomplishments, and the applicant’s interest in a health administration career.  Additional information may be requested by the committee as needed. Recommendations from this review are forwarded to the college admissions committee for final action.

University of Kentucky Graduate School

Following acceptance to the UK MHA Program, you will complete a short application through the University of Kentucky Graduate School. This process generates your UK ID and access to specific student links.  The Student Engagement, Advising and Success (SEAS) office streamlines this application process by sharing information from your SOPHAS or HAMPCAS application with the Graduate School and is available to assist.
