UK College of Public Health To Sponsor the 2021 KHDA Fall Conference

November 15, 2021

The University of Kentucky's College of Public Health is proud to be a sponsor at the upcoming Kentucky Health Departments Association (KHDA) 2021 Fall Retreat, Nov. 17-19, at Barren River State Park, which invites the public health community, including local health department directors and departments in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, to network and discuss ideas that can impact the health of all Kentuckians.

The Kentucky Health Departments Association (KHDA) was formed in 1984 through the merger of the Kentucky District Health Departments Association and the Kentucky County Health Departments Association. Their mission is to protect and ensure the health of our citizens through quality individual and population-based services through community health assessment, public health policy development, and assurance of quality service.

“We are grateful of our partnership with the KHDA and to sponsor this important public health event right here in Kentucky,” says Dr. Donna Arnett, Dean of the UK College of Public Health. “We share KHDA's mission in researching and promoting positive population health change for everyone, including all Kentuckians."

The UK College of Public Health is excited to have several alumni presenting at this event including Jan Chamness, Public Health Director at Montgomery County Health Department and Georgia Heise, District Director at Three Rivers District Health Department.

In 2004, the University of Kentucky established the College of Public Health to develop transformative solutions to health challenges through teaching, research and service efforts. Located in Lexington, Kentucky, we take seriously our public health responsibility to all communities and individuals in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and beyond. Our state specifically faces challenges in the areas of opioid addiction, obesity, cardiovascular disease, and cancer, among others. With that in mind, we are dedicated to transforming and assisting in the creation of a healthier community, state, and world - for everyone.
