This keynote is designed to unpack the contributions of Black immigrants to Black History in the United States. Through thoughtful conversation, we explore Blackness in all of its forms, while amplifying the Black immigrant experience. Lunch will be provided for in-person attendees who register here, or you can join remotely via Zoom. 

Dayne Hutchinson, PhD, is the assistant vice president for student engagement and success in the Office of Campus Life at American University in Washington, D.C. The proud son of immigrants, Dr. Hutchinson is the first in his family to attend college and earn a degree. A scholar-practitioner, Dr. Hutchinson has contributed to several books focused on his research topic of student success and first-generation Afro-Caribbean student experiences. He serves as an adjunct faculty member at the Abraham S. Fischler College of Education and School of Criminal Justice at Nova Southeastern University and adjunct associate professor of higher education at Pace University in New York City. Dr. Hutchinson earned his Bachelor of Science in social sciences from Florida State University. He earned both his MA in Student Affairs and PhD in higher education administration from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.
