UK Intern and Employer of the Year winners recognized during ceremony
LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 1, 2023) — Recipients of the University of Kentucky Undergraduate and Graduate Student Intern of the Year Awards and the Employer of the Year Award were recognized in a ceremony coordinated by the Stuckert Career Center, housed in the Office for Student Success, on April 18, 2023.
This annual event serves to recognize the extraordinary efforts and outstanding accomplishments of the year’s most exceptional student interns, as well as to honor the investment employers have made in UK students through career opportunities, events and collaborations.
The 2022 Undergraduate Intern of the Year is Cassi Fabby of the College of Agriculture,Food and Environment. Fabby completed her internship this year with GXO Logistics, and has accepted a position as a business management specialist at ITSC Secure Solutions. She will be graduating this week.
“I loved my experience and got the opportunity to learn how a logistics company operates from a talent and learning point of view. I met some incredible people and learned so much throughout the experience; I can't say enough good things about GXO,” said Fabby.
The Graduate Student Intern of the Year award was presented to Ashley Carroll of the College of Public Health. Caroll’s internship experience was with the Kentucky Department of Public Health. She has been offered a position there, which she will start after her graduation in May.
“It was just so nice to receive an email saying that my work as an intern was being acknowledged and noticed,” said Carroll.
The Employer of the Year award was presented to VonLehman M&A Advisory Group, which provides business advising services for small-to-mid-sized organizations. This year, VonLehman has gone above and beyond for its interns, providing them with unique experiences and opportunities that will set them up for success both in their scholarly endeavors and in the professional world. Keith Carlson, Class of 2005, accepted the award on behalf of the organization.
