Allison Elliott-Shannon has worked at the University of Kentucky since 2003, including nine years in UK Public Relations and Marketing. She has extensive experience writing about science and health care, managing media relations, and building communication operations. As Communications Director for the College of Public Health she leads the development and implementation of communication strategies for all internal and external audiences. She oversees social media, branding, marketing and promotional materials, web content, copywriting, and publications including Catalyst, the magazine of the College. In addition to her BA and MA degrees, Allison holds certificates from the Lobbying, Campaign Management, and Women & Politics Institutes at the American University School of Public Affairs. She is currently a PhD student in higher education policy at UK. In 2018 Allison received the Distinguished Service Scholar Award from and was named an Emerging Leader by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District III. She is a 2019 graduate of the UK Women's Executive Leadership Development (WELD) program.
