Beverly May RN, MSN, DrPH is a Project Manager and has practiced nursing in eastern Kentucky for over 30 years, with twenty of those as a family nurse practitioner serving rural, homeless, uninsured, and mental health populations.
From 2016 through 2020 she served as the project manager for the Mountain Air Project, a National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) funded community-based study of respiratory disease, followed by an intervention which used visiting nurses to deliver self-management education, and Healthy Homes education and inspections to improve knowledge and symptom control for adults with asthma.
Dr. May is currently project manager for the environmental health literacy arm of the Mountain Drinking Water Project, a NIEHS funded, community-engaged study examining strategies for reducing disinfection byproducts in municipal water.
She was awarded the University of Kentucky Center for Appalachian Research in Environmental Sciences (UK-CARES) Community Engagement Award in Environmental Health Sciences in 2021.
She completed a DrPH with a concentration in epidemiology at the University of Kentucky in 2019.
