How to seek help

All complaints related to alleged violations of Policy and Procedures for Addressing and Resolving Allegations of Sexual Assault, Stalking, Dating Violence, and Domestic Violence (AR 6:2), regardless of where the complaint is initially received, are referred to the IEEO for investigation.

The following is from IEEO’s website about Title IX: https://ieeo.uky.edu/key-priorities/title-ix-compliance

All University employees are responsible employees and are required to forward any report of a violation of the Interim Regulation to Institutional Equity as soon as possible If you are not sure whether you are required to report, please contact Meredith Reeves at meredith.reeves@uky.edu or (859) 257-8927.

Responsible Employees are required to provide Institutional Equity with the name of the person experiencing the behavior and any other information provided to them related to the concerns.

Once a report is made an investigator will reach out to the individual experiencing the behavior to discuss options available to the individual. This includes discussing whether the individual is interested in filing a formal complaint, supportive measures that are available, and how to file a police report, if the individual chooses to do so. Individuals who have experienced behavior that could violate the Interim Regulation are not required to respond to outreach from Institutional Equity and Institutional Equity will take no action without request from or notification to the person experiencing the behavior.

If you witness or are the victim of harassment or discrimination, please contact the Office of Institutional Equity and Equal Opportunity at AskEO@email.uky.edu or (859) 257-8927 to report the incident. You may also file an official report online.

Incident Reporting Form: https://cm.maxient.com/reportingform.php?UnivofKentucky&layout_id=30m

A complaint of discrimination or harassment should be filed as soon as possible after the alleged discriminatory, harassing or retaliatory action. A complaint of discrimination or harassment may be initiated by contacting any dean, director, faculty member, department head, manager, supervisor, or other individual with supervisory or administrative responsibility. Any such individual who receives a complaint of discrimination or harassment shall report that to the Office of Institutional Equity and Equal Opportunity. Once the Office of Institutional Equity and Equal Opportunity Office receives the complaint an investigation will begin immediately.

Confidential Reporting: Individuals may make a confidential complaint or report (where individuals receiving the complaint are not required to report incidents to IEEO) to the University Violence Intervention and Prevention Center (VIP Center), the University Counseling Center, or University Health Services (students only).

Anonymous reports may be made to the University of Kentucky Police Department (UKPD); however, because police reports are public records under state law, UKPD cannot hold reports of sexual assault, stalking, dating violence, or domestic violence in confidence. IEEO considers all requests for anonymity but may not be able to honor all requests while meeting the complaining party’s needs and complying with the university’s duties pursuant to federal law.

Campus Security Authorities are required to make reports of certain crimes for inclusion in the Annual Security Reports. These reports include no identifying information and are for statistical purposes only.
