Dr. Kathleen Winter is an Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Environmental Health. She currently serves at the State Epidemiologist for Kentucky and Director for the Division of Epidemiology and Health Planning with the Kentucky Department for Public Health where she oversees statewide infectious and communicable disease programs, immunization programs, and the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s Office of Vital Statistics.

Dr. Winter has expertise in communicable disease control, immunizations and vaccine-preventable diseases. Her experience includes leadership at state and local health departments in Kentucky, California, and Ohio. Dr. Winter teaches graduate-level courses for the Department of Epidemiology and Environmental Health, including Infectious Disease Epidemiology (CPH 612).

Dr. Winter is a faculty affiliate of the University of Kentucky One Health Center and the Central Appalachian Regional Education and Research Center.
