University of Kentucky Public Health Showcase 2026 Higlights

This panel will highlight the Youth Health Coalition partnership between the Lawrence County Health Department and Lawrence County High School. Panelists will share their experiences developing, implementing, and sustaining projects that address health issues affecting young people, including mental health, substance use prevention, peer-to-peer initiatives, and other programs designed to engage students.

The discussion will explore how public health professionals can support youth-led efforts by coming alongside them with research, guidance, and practical tools. Panelists will reflect on what these experiences have meant to them personally and the impact the work has had on their community. They will also discuss the important role of state partners in guiding and funding local initiatives. The panel aims to demonstrate how collaboration among youth, local, and state partners can empower creative solutions that reflect the unique needs of their communities.
