Dr. Paula Arnett is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Management and Policy. She also serves as Associate Dean for Administration and Interim Associate Dean for Student and Academic Affairs. Throughout her career she has worked to identify rural health disparities, improve the health of populations, and improve access to medical providers in rural areas. Prior to joining the College of Public Health, she was an Instructor in Leadership in Rural and Underserved Healthcare at the UK College of Medicine and an advisor for the Rural Physician Leadership Program. Dr. Arnett has published research based on findings from the Rural Physician Leadership Program, and in the areas of health disparities and rural health. She is particularly interested in the funding of, services provided by, and outcomes of local health departments across the state of Kentucky. She has also been active in the Shaping Our Appalachian Region (SOAR) program, a community-involved initiative to gather ideas and develop goals for improving the Eastern Kentucky region. Dr. Arnett's professional memberships include: the Kentucky Public Health Research Network, the Kentucky Cancer Consortium, the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, the American Public Health Association, the Kentucky Rural Health Association, and the National Rural Health Association.
