In recognition of the increasing threat falls pose to older adults, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has officially proclaimed Sept. 14-20 as Fall Prevention Awareness Week, to raise public awareness about fall-related injuries and fatalities among older adults in Kentucky.
The Consortium for Understanding and Reducing Infectious Diseases in Kentucky (CURE-KY) will foster multidisciplinary collaborations to address the burden of infectious diseases in the Commonwealth and beyond.
The event, sponsored by the University of Kentucky College of Public Health, provided an invaluable platform for sharing research, innovative community practices, transformative teaching methodologies, and strategies for workforce development within the realm of public health.
Researchers’ reasons for launching a study are sometimes purely intellectual: They may be intrigued by an inexplicable observation or challenged by a compelling question. Other times, the spark may be deeply personal. Such was the case for University of Kentucky (UK) Ph.D. student Kara Cook.
