Healthcare Mergers and Acquisitions: Benefits and Challenges

Tanja Oquendo, J.D., currently serves as System Senior Vice President for Transformation and Integration at CommonSpirit Health (CSH), the nation’s second-largest non-profit healthcare system generating approximately $30 billion in annual revenue.

She has played a leading role in how the organization has developed following the merger of Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health (DH). Tanja helped identify nearly $1 billion in value capture since CSH was formed in 2019.

She also has developed and led the implementation of a culture-shaping strategy that has been instrumental in navigating through the constantly evolving COVID-19 pandemic — while simultaneously helping create a mission-driven, high-performance culture directed at patient care.
