Dr. Kathleen Winter is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology. She is the current State Epidemiologist for Kentucky and Director for the Division of Epidemiology and Health Planning with the Kentucky Department for Public Health.

She has expertise in communicable disease control, immunizations and vaccine-preventable diseases. Her experience includes serving 11 years with the Immunization Branch of the California Department of Public Health prior to joining the College in 2016, as well as serving as a epidemiologic lead and scientific advisor to the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department during the COVID-19 pandemic response.

Dr. Winter primarily teaches graduate-level courses for the Department of Epidemiology, including Infectious Disease Epidemiology (CPH 612).
