Dr. Stella Aslibekyan is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Environmental Health. She joined the College to teach graduate-level methods courses in 2020.
In addition to her adjunct appointment at the College, Dr. Aslibekyan holds a senior scientist position in the biotechnology industry. Previously, she was a tenured associate professor of Epidemiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she also retains an adjunct appointment.
Throughout her career, Dr. Aslibekyan has focused on the 'nature and nurture' question, studying both genetic and environmental contributions to the etiology of human diseases. She is an author on almost 200 peer-reviewed publications; her research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association.
Currently Dr. Aslibekyan focuses on teaching and curriculum development in epidemiology and other population health sciences. Her interests include teaching methodology, online instruction, and issues of academic integrity.
