Welcome to the first Facts and Snacks presentation for Fall 2023! At the event, you will hear from Marjorie Stanek who is the new Proposal Development Office (PDO) liaison for CPH. Marjorie Stanek serves as the Proposal Development Office’s Liaison to the College of Public Health. Marjie earned a PhD in Educational Sciences from the University of Kentucky, with a primary focus in Health Promotion and Occupational and Environmental Health. She received her M.A. in Sociology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and completed her undergraduate studies at James Madison University.
Prior to joining PDO, Marjorie worked for 7 years as the Development Coordinator for Greenhouse 17, a domestic abuse advocacy agency serving 17 Kentucky counties, and spent 10 years in state government service, where she held roles as Director of Kentucky’s Administering Agency for criminal justice and victim service funding, and as Director and Research Coordinator for Kentucky’s Criminal Justice Statistical Analysis Center. Marjorie has developed a broad array of successful proposals for private, state, and federal funders, and her diverse professional experiences include serving as a subject matter expert during the FBI’s law enforcement suicide data collection planning process and as a legislative advisory committee member during the implementation of a state-funded opioid pilot.
Dr. Stanek also served as the Evaluation Committee co-Chair for the Kentucky Victim Assistance Academy, and during implementation planning and grant reviews for a variety of other grant federal and state programs. She was responsible for planning, design, administration, and data analysis of a statewide survey to examine the criminal victimization experiences of a representative sample of Kentucky residents and has been actively involved in statewide and pilot projects, supported by federal funds, including the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI), and projects to mitigate the negative impacts of substance use on affected individuals, children and families, and the community.
The University of Kentucky College of Public Health is undergoing a review by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) for re-accreditation. Part of this process includes the invitation to provide third-party comments. Anyone, including students, alumni, employers, community partners, etc., is allowed to share relevant information about the college directly with CEPH.
