The University of Kentucky College of Public Health (CPH) welcomes Stephanie Ramsey as the next Production Marketing Coordinator, part of the Marketing and Communications (MarCom) team and the Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center (KIPRC).
The Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center (KIPRC), established in 1994, is a unique partnership between the Kentucky Department for Public Health (KDPH) and CPH.
KIPRC serves both as an academic injury prevention research center and as the KDPH’s designee or “bona fide agent” for statewide injury prevention and control, focusing on injury prevention translation and practice.
Stephanie will champion all marketing and communications needs at KIPRC, and will work on other collaborative, creative projects for CPH.
“I’m very excited about being on a driven and talented team,” says Stephanie. “I think this team has created a strong foundation and I’m looking forward to being a part of “MarCom 2.0” and creating content to showcase the important work that KIPRC and CPH are doing.
Marcom 2.0 is a new, proactive initiative to be a better, stronger partner in the College’s success through producing more dynamic content, informational and inspirational resources, training modules, and more – including expanding the knowledge and understanding of the research centers like KIPRC.
“Being the communications manager for KIPRC is important in being able to promote their research and discoveries,” says Stephanie. “KIPRC has amazing resources that need to be utilized so being able to communicate that to the public is essential.”
CPH’s mission of leaving the world a healthier place for the next generation is something KIPRC’s work focuses on. KIPRC is the hub for injury prevention research and I’m excited to explore new ways to elevate KIPRC and CPH to our public health community.”
Born in Eugen, Oregon, Stephanie’s family moved to Waynesville, North Carolina which is a small town outside of Asheville. Stephanie moved to Lexington, Kentucky about a decade later to be closer to her dad’s family.
Stephanie’s biggest influence has and continues to be her family and mentors.
“My family have been there to offer advice and support me in any endeavors I choose to pursue,” says Stephanie. “I have a twin brother and while we are the same age, we both excel in different areas. Having his support and advice has always been meaningful to me.” “I am thankful to have supportive friends and inspiring mentors. Entering the work force can be overwhelming; but leaning into my friends, who are also young professionals, understand my perspective. Creating mentors for myself, by developing meaningful relationships with my past coworkers, has also helped me grow professionally and personally," adds Stephanie.

For college, Stephanie attended High Point University in High Point, North Carolina.
“Finding a major was something I struggled with in the beginning; however, I eventually discovered a newfound passion in Strategic Communications and Psychology. I also did a semester abroad at the University of Essex in Colchester, England.”
“Studying abroad helped grow my confidence, proving to myself that I can adapt to a variety of different environments. Moving to a country alone was a huge adjustment; but looking back on those experiences, I know I would not be as confident or self-sufficient without them,” Stephanie adds.
Stephanie graduated with her undergraduate degree in Strategic Communications, with a minor in Psychology, and M.A. in Business Leadership and Communications from High Point in 2020 and 2021, respectively.
After graduation in 2021, Stephanie worked as Communications Associate for the Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission (MIC3). MIC3 assists military-connected students transition between schools, so they can transfer their credits and graduate on time.
At MIC3, Stephanie managed two of the Commission’s committees, social media strategy, website, monthly newsletters, tabling events & conferences, and assisted with cases.
