Below are the best practice guidelines the College of Public Health uses to maintain accessibility and security in their website PDFs. These were developed from recommendations from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) accessibility standards and the College's own internal standards.
The W3C recommends certain rules for appropriate online PDF accessibility as stated in their Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). There are two quick ways of checking if the PDF you are wanting to upload to the website meets these criteria:
Upload your PDF to the axes4 PDF accessibility checker: axesCheck.
Use the built-in accessibility checker in Adobe Acrobat.
Please check the PDF you want to upload to the website for any personal information such as personal address, home address, cellphone number. It is recommended that you use only your work contact information in the CV/Resumes you submit specifically for the website.
The University of Kentucky College of Public Health is undergoing a review by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) for re-accreditation. Part of this process includes the invitation to provide third-party comments. Anyone, including students, alumni, employers, community partners, etc., is allowed to share relevant information about the college directly with CEPH. If you would like to provide input to CEPH to inform their review, send your comments to submissions@ceph.org by May 4th, 2025.
