The University of Kentucky (UK) College of Public Health (CPH) welcomes Anna Hallahan as the new Senior Alumni Coordinator, part of the Student Engagement & Academic Success (SEAS) team.
Anna will champion all support and connection efforts at CPH to maintain positive, lifelong relationships with the College’s alumni community. She will also support current students in building relationships with alumni to enhance their career exploration in public health.
“I am excited to help current students understand what tools they will need to successfully apply for jobs post-graduation and to help current alumni network and grow professionally while staying connected to current events,” says Anna. “CPH has an impressive alumni pool, so opening the communication channels to learn more about what they are looking for is my first priority.”
CPH believes that the connection with alumni doesn’t end at graduation, it’s just beginning. These health champions, graduates of CPH, are continuing to shape public health policy, conduct ground-breaking research, lead innovative public health solutions and shaping the future of public health in Kentucky and beyond.
“I am looking to increase routes for alumni to connect with one another, the college, and current students,” says Anna. "In addition, I am looking forward to building opportunities for current students to learn about the job landscape from our alumni, either by volunteer/internship work or guest lectures/spotlights. Doing so will help them feel confident applying to and securing jobs.”
Originally from Michigan, Anna studied medical history at the University of Michigan and earned her Master in Public Health (MPH) from Boston University.
“Having earned my MPH from Boston University, I am excited to be able to approach this position with a deeper understanding of the field and the overall mission of public health,” says Anna. “Having conversations from that vantage point is something I hope will elevate my effectiveness in this role.”
