Students of the University of Kentucky College of Public Health (CPH) Master of Health Administration (MHA) program will soon have the chance to earn a new scholarship in honor of longtime faculty member Martha C. Riddell, DrPH.
Dr. Riddell, an associate professor in CPH’s Department of Health Management and Policy, is being recognized through the establishment of the Martha Riddell MHA Endowed Scholarship. Funded by contributions from faculty associates, friends, and former MHA students, this scholarship is set to be awarded annually starting in the 2025-2026 academic year.
“This scholarship is a tribute to one of our College’s finest and most respected teachers and leaders,” said Dean Heather Bush.
Dr. Riddell expressed her gratitude to the founding contributors for their generosity and their support of the MHA program and its students.
“Scholarship support provides life changing opportunities and makes graduate studies attainable for many students, and MHA Students are very grateful for the new Martha Riddell Scholarship,” said Hannah Wethington, president of the MHA Student Association.
Professor Riddell received her MPH and DrPH degrees from the University of North Carolina and was appointed to the University of Kentucky faculty in 2007 after holding administrative positions at Lexington Clinic and Advantage Care, Inc., in Lexington. She served as Director of the CPH MHA program from 2012 to 2020, and has received numerous awards for her teaching and leadership. Among them are the CPH Dean’s Outstanding Teacher Award, the MHA Student Association’s Outstanding Faculty award, and the UK Alumni Association’s Great Teacher Award.
