Catherine Hines is an Educational Services Assistant Senior for FindHelpNow.org, the Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center’s Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment locator website. She holds her BA in Classical Studies from Centre College. Catherine works with the FindHelpNow team as the Peer-to-Peer Coordinator to manage interest from other states which may implement this website for their own communities. She engages in outreach to other states interested in the FindHelpNow.org platform and offers technical assistance for states which decide to create their own SUD treatment locator website or linkage to care programs.
The Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center (KIPRC), part of the University of Kentucky College of Public Health, has opened applications for the Kentucky Injury-Free Academy (KIFA)—a new initiative designed to help Kentucky organizations develop sustainable, community-driven violence prevention strategies that incorporate shared risk and protective factors.
The Kentucky Injury-Free Academy builds on the successful model of the Injury-Free NC Academy, launched in North Carolina in 2012, which is a leader in advancing community-based violence prevention.
National Recovery Month, established in 1989, is held every September to promote and support new evidence-based substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and recovery practices. The month celebrates the nation’s strong recovery community and acknowledges the dedication of service providers and communities that make recovery possible.
The University of Kentucky College of Public Health is undergoing a review by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) for re-accreditation. Part of this process includes the invitation to provide third-party comments. Anyone, including students, alumni, employers, community partners, etc., is allowed to share relevant information about the college directly with CEPH.
