Land Acknowledgement

The College of Public Health respectfully acknowledges that the University of Kentucky sits on the lands of diverse Native peoples including the Cherokee, Osage, Chickasaw, and Shawnee peoples. We recognize that we now live and work on these lands and honor with gratitude the historical and continuing relationship between the indigenous people of this region and the land.

The University of Kentucky College of Public Health aims to be a champion of diversity, equity and inclusion, in line with our vision to be the catalyst of positive change for population health.

As we work to accomplish our mission of developing health champions in Kentucky and beyond, we understand that excellence is only possible with diversity of thought and creating a welcoming atmosphere — for everyone.

You belong here because we are:

  • Fostering excellence, creativity and innovation;

  • Broadening our scope of inquiry, which helps us better understand and address health disparities;

  • Enhancing our ability to attract and retain unique and talented students, faculty and staff in a changing demographic landscape; and

  • Positioning our community for global education, service, and research preeminence.

If you have any comments, questions, or concerns for the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion please reach out to us via email at CPH_Diversity@uky.edu.
