Changes of course descriptions or titles must be approved by the faculty and submitted to Academic Affairs. The approval process can take up to a year. If you would change the numbering, title or description for a course please contact your chair and the Academic Affairs Administrator, Jessica Guillen (Jessica.guillen@uky.edu).
Prerequisites are added to a course when the course is created and are part of the Senate rules. Once established prerequisites are always seen with the course descriptions. It is possible to disable prerequisites with the registrar, but they will still show with the course catalog. Any changes must be approved via the course change proposal in Curriculog and approved by the senate. Curriculog is UK's course and program management system. A student can register without a prerequisite if an override is granted by the instructor.
Booking rules can also be added to a course and they are college based. Enrollment can be restricted based on if a student is in a certain college, major, or classification. Booking rules do not have to be included with the course description and do not require a senate change. Notes can also be applied to a course and can be changed at any time.
Notes can be added each semester when the course scheduling spread sheet is sent out to the department representative. Located on the sheet is a column with the Prerequisites for each course and a column for Booking Rules or Special Notes. Any questions about this section can be directed to the Academic Affairs Administrator, Jessica Guillen (Jessica.guillen@uky.edu).
